Nowhere in the world is it more spectacular than in the Everest region. It’s where four of the world’s six tallest peaks (Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Choyu) rise above everything else, crowning the towering ridges that straddle the forbidding Himalayans. The Everest Base Camp trek is the grandest walk in the land of the Himalayas. Trekking through the Everest region offers astounding mountain views, an opportunity to take a glimpse into the life of world famous climbers (the Sherpas), a chance to survey around a world heritage site (Sagarmatha National Park) which hosts variety of Himalayan floras and faunas, an opportunity to explore the highest Buddhist monasteries in the world, and of course the trip takes us to the Everest Base Camp itself. It is an opportunity to trek where Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay set off on their epic journey in 1953. A dream coming true for a myriad of people is seeing Everest, the greatest accomplishment of Earth, while witnessing all its power and grace up close and personal.
We will begin our trip by exploring the temples, shrines, bazaars and restaurants of Kathmandu. The following day we take a stimulating mountain flight to Hillary Airport at Lukla and trek up through the Sagarmatha National Park, through the colorful landscapes, Gompas and monasteries enclosed by the soaring peaks. Next is a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar, the capital of the Sherpas, where we are greeted by spectacular mountain vistas. We can enjoy the Sherpa village, culture and monasteries during two rest days which also aid in acclimatization as the altitude begins to rise. While we pass through the pine and fir forests, glacial rivers, stony trails, mountains, and Buddhist monasteries, views of Everest and other mighty mountains get closer and more picturesque by the hour. We continue to follow the trail to a famous vantage point, Kala Patthar, where a marvelous 360-degree panorama awaits. After achieving our target of Everest Base Camp, we trek back down to Lukla for a return flight to Kathmandu.
Our itinerary is designed for novice trekkers who are in good health with normal physical fitness. The 14 days-long trip would be ideal for you if you are young, energetic, physically fit and have a limited amount of time to trek. Others might be in quest of a more challenging trek along with a desire to “get off the beaten path” and exploring Gokyo Lake and valley, which is also something we can accommodate. From young to old and experienced trekkers to fledgling beginners, our variety of offers and flexibility in treks is an assurance that everyone will experience adventures of a lifetime.
